Description: Graphic Design is a class that teaches art and technology.  In this class students will use design as a creative process in communication.  Students will also explore various methods used to create and combine words, symbols, and images to create a visual representation of ideas and messages. Students will use the basic elements and principles of art and also learn how to use the computer programs Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator.  This class teaches the basics of Graphic Design through an illustrative and corporate view.

    Attendance and Make-up Work:

If you are absent, you are responsible to make up any missed work.  Assignments missed due to an excused absence must be tuned in within a maximum of five days. Tests are to be made up at the earliest time possible.  Assignments due the day that you are absent are due the day your return.  There is not a 5-day period for school-approved absence; so all work missed during such an absence is due that following school day.

This is a semester class, on the ninth excused or unexcused absence you will loose credit for the course.  Three excused or unexcused tardies or early dismissals equal one absence.

    Classroom Procedures:

Students will come to class and take a seat at their computer before the tardy bell rings.  Students are asked to take out their project and/or turn your computer on to begin class.  Independent work is to be done quietly and I ask for students to stay focused and on task.

    Classroom Rules/ Regulations:

    1. All students will be respectful at all times.
    2. Take care of your needs before coming to class.
    3. Come to class prepared with the supplies for my class.

*All classes at SHS strictly follow the student handbook.  All students are given a handbook the first day of the school year.  Students are expected to abide by those rules and regulations.

Homework is the students’ responsibility.  Homework is for the individual and should not be done in groups.  However, some homework projects will ask for the assistance of family, friends or neighbors to complete the assignment.  Homework will be collected or checked at the beginning of class.

    Class Fees:

Graphic Design has a $5.00 class fee.  This class fee is for the printing and materials used in the classroom. All major projects will be printed and presented appropriately as the finished project.  If the student does not pay the class fee he/she will be put on the school debt list.  The class fee is to be paid to the teacher only at the beginning of the semester.
