Dr. MeChelle S. Blunt

Dr. MeChelle Lynette Savedge Blunt
Dr. MeChelle S. Blunt is a veteran educator with over 39 years of experience at the school level, central office administration, and at the postsecondary level. Dr. Blunt brings a wealth of knowledge and experience gained from classroom and administration in urban and rural school districts.  She earned an undergraduate degree in biology at Virginia State University. Her master's degree was obtained in Urban Education from Norfolk State and her doctorate degree was earned from Virginia Tech in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies. Her dissertation is published and addressed Factors that Affect Retention of Novice Teachers in Hard-to-Staff High Schools in Virginia.  Dr. Blunt is a resident of Southampton County, VA. She and her husband, Larry, have two adult children, Larry Jr., and LaChelle, who graduated from Southampton High School. Both children are married to Darius and Morgan respectively. Dr. Blunt and her husband are the proud grandparents of Isaiah Daniel, Nyla MeChelle Evans and Layla Marie Blunt.  Dr. Blunt is a student advocate and believes that all students can learn and succeed if given equitable access to rigorous, relevant, and differentiated learning opportunities.
