STEM Camp Photo Showcase
The SCPS STEM Summer Camps were made possible through the Advancing Computer Science Education (ACSE) grant, and implemented in cooperation with the Southside Virginia Regional Technology Cooperative (SVRTC) and Longwood University's Institute for Teaching through Technology and Innovative Practices (ITTIP). Camps are designed to allow 12-16 students an intensive immersion in topics on robotics, coding, and computer science centered on hands-on engagement with one or more robotics systems. The Lego Spike, Root, and Sphero Mini robotics systems were the centerpieces of the camp for our rising 4th and 5th graders.
Each camp features a Q & A session with a professional scientist or engineer. Our rising 4th and 5th graders spoke with Dr. Granat, a retired food scientist with the company Mondelez (parent company to Ritz, Oreo, Belvita, Toblerone, and other popular food brands), who shared her deep experience with the science of food and automation in food production plants.
Please be patient with the photo carousel below, it has a large number of photos of our students in action, and may take a little time to load!
