Southampton County Public Schools’ inaugural Athletic Hall of Fame was an unforgettable evening celebrating pride and legacy! Fifteen remarkable inductees, whose talents carried them from the SHS fields to the NFL, MLB, and international leagues, were honored during an elegant banquet, where their framed jerseys were unveiled. These jerseys will hang as lasting symbols of excellence, dedication, and Indian pride.
The inductees are: Darius Bell, Vernon Bryant, Joseph Leroy Dail, Jr., Percy Ellsworth, Douglas Hines, Tyran Hunt, Walker Gillette, Herman “Duke” Grant, Timothy Grant, Cyrus Lawrence, Ashley Lee, Riddick Parker, Hunter Peck, John Rawls, Sr., and Greg Scott.
Also honored were six coaches whose leadership and mentorship shaped the athletic program and continue to have an enduring impact on Southampton County Public Schools. These coaches are Timothy Mason, Littleton Parker, Larry Rose, Wayne Cosby, Alvin Blow, and Larry Logan.
The inaugural Southampton County Public Schools Athletic Hall of Fame stands as a powerful reminder of the talent, perseverance, and community spirit that define Southampton. The framed jerseys will hang on the walls of the "Commons" in Southampton High School and serve as a daily inspiration for future generations. They will remind all who pass by that greatness begins here.
