Here you will find all the necessary information about the SMS Visual Arts program. SMS currently offers the following art classes:
*Art Appreciation - Grade 6 This course introduces students to the basic elements and principles of art and design in preparation for Art I. Students will also discuss art history and aesthetics, as well as learn about art from various cultures.
*Art I - Grade 8 Art I continues the exploration of the elements of art and design, as well as still life, drawing the human form, working with perspective, and art history. Students will receive one high school credit upon completion of Art I.
*T.A.G. Art - Grades 6 & 7 Talented and Gifted (T.A.G.) Art is a course specifically for students who have been identified as gifted in the visual arts by Southampton County Public Schools. This course gives students the opportunity to explore various art techniques and materials. In addition, students in the gifted program travel to Rawls Museum Arts in Courtland once a month to work with local artists.
