Section 504 Compliance

It is the policy of Southampton County Public Schools not to discriminate on the basis of disability.  If you find online information or functionality that is inaccessible as a person with disabilities, please notify Bill Hatch by calling 757-653-2692 or via e-mail to bhatch@southampton.k12.va.us or by US Mail at PO Box 96; Courtland, VA 23837, who will seek to resolve the issue promptly.
 
Any person who believes she or he has been subjected to discrimination on the basis of disability may file a grievance using the procedure below:

    •    Grievances must be submitted to webmaster@southampton.k12.va.us within 15 days of the date the person filing the grievance becomes aware of the alleged discriminatory action.  Grievances can also be sent via US Mail to PO Box 96; Courtland, VA 23837 (ATTN: Section 504 Coordinator).


    •    A complaint must be in writing, containing the name and address of the person filing it. The complaint must state the problem or action alleged to be discriminatory and the remedy or relief sought.
  Persons whose disabilities affect their ability to write may contact the Section 504 Coordinator via phone at 757-653-2692 for assistance in filing the complaint.

    •    The Section 504 Coordinator (or her/his designee) shall conduct an investigation of the complaint and will issue a written decision on the grievance no later than 30 days after its filing.


    •    The person filing the grievance may appeal the decision of the Section 504 Coordinator by writing to the Division Superintendent within 15 days of receiving the Section 504 Coordinator’s decision. The Division Superintendent shall issue a written decision in response to the appeal no later than 30 days after its filing.
